Since roughly ten years Theo Jansen is occupied with the making of a new kind of nature. Yellow electricity tubes are used as the basic building blocks of this new nature. He makes large skeletons of animals which are able to walk on the wind over the beaches of the Netherlands. By recreating nature, he hopes to broaden his insights of nature. Through the course of time evolution manifests itself in each subsequent generation.

Eventually Theo Jansen wants to put these animals out in herds on the beaches, so they will live their own lives. Surviving while moving around within two enclosing lines on the wet sand near the ocean and the dry sand at the edge of the beach. To get the animals used to new new surroundings Jansen can often be found at the beach. The animals need to get used to their new environment.
