UNIVERSAL NATURAL SHAPES
The basis is the Superformula, a single equation that uses only a few variables to create an infinite number of supershapes.
SUPERSHAPES (a.k.a. Gielis' curves & surfaces) provide a direct geometrical description and relation between circles and squares, flowers and snowflakes, molecules and space-time, sounds and vision, anything and everything. Our mission is to develop these ideas further in geometry, science and technology in close collaboration with researchers worldwide. |
We will develop innovative technologies and products for tomorrow’s world, in among others, computer science (data reduction and visualization in games, CAD and medical), signal and sound analysis (speech, stock market analysis). The scope is endless.
THE SIMON STEVIN INSTITUTE FOR GEOMETRY focuses on purely geometrical and mathematical aspects. Although the Geometry Institute will be completely independent, its foundational work will be a cornerstone for future developments in science and technology.
